Director of Geographic Information Systems Roger Keren leads the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team at the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council. With an extensive background in location-based technology coupled with urban and regional planning, Roger’s experience includes work on a broad range of projects focused on integrating environmental and land use planning with location-based technology on local and national scales. He specializes in environmental, land use, and community planning; GIS as a science, a system, and as a tool for participation; and brownfields redevelopment. Prior to joining the Highlands Council staff, Roger worked for the Somerset County Planning Board as a Senior Planner and GIS Coordinator. He has also served as a Project Associate with the National Center for Neighborhood and Brownfields Redevelopment at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University. Roger received a Master’s in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute, and a B.S. in Environmental Science from the State University College of New York at Oneonta. |
